What is Microsoft Azure?

Microsoft Azure or more commonly known as only ‘Azure’ is a cloud computing service created and offered by Microsoft. Azure is similar to Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services (AWS), allowing developers to build, test, deploy and host applications and services on the global network of data centres in Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure. Azure is an open platform which means, it can support programming languages, environments, tools and frameworks that are native to Microsoft or offered by third-party software. Azure was initially launched as Windows Azure in February  2010 and later changed its name to Microsoft Azure.
